My very own Chili Prawn

Ingredients:

- Some medium fresh prawns, cleaned and beheaded.

- 3 shallots, 2 garlic, 1 inch ginger, shrimp paste (blended)

- 1 cup of blended fresh red chili (blended with some water)

- 4 table spoon of chili sauce

- Limau purut leaves

- 1 teaspoon of sugar

- 1 pinch of salt

- oil for cooking

Cooking this dish is unbelievably simple. So if you think sambals are difficult and tedious to cook, try this one!

1. Preheat your kuali with 3 tablespoons of oil and when it is hot, pour the blended ingredients in.
2. Fry the ingredients for about 10 – 15 minutes or until it becomes aromatic. Cover your kuali as the chili is going to percik on your kitchen’s wall (really badly if you don't put a lid on).

3. Add prawns and stir a little, then pour in the tamarind juice. Bring to boil.

4. Add the limau purut leaves, stirring occasionally for 5-10 minutes until prawn is cooked.
5. Add in sugar and salt to taste, and serve it hot.

If the sambal is rather watery, you may leave it to thicken over small heat a while longer. You can eat your sambal with plain rice, fried rice, tomato rice and what not. Good luck cooking!

Happy Fasting everybody!

The Holy month of Ramadhan,
for all Muslim has begun,
Praising Allah through the day,
from dawn to dusk,
we fast and pray.
We pay charity for those in need,
trying hard to do good deeds.
When the sun has set,
and day is done,
I’ll break this chain,
but only one.
It’s time for Eid and lots of fun.

Selamat menyambut Ramadhan and take care!

Another visit?

Yes, another visit before fasting hehe…We ate this at one of the well known sushi restaurant situated on the 3rd flour, above KFC, near ice skating arena in Sunway Piramid. We went at about 6pm and it was real crowded with people. This time I remember the name of the sushi we ate as well as its prices. So here goes:
Deep fried fish fillet or Sakana fry RM3

According to my dear bulat, this is the best dish he has ever tasted at sushi restaurant coz it’s not pricy compared to other dish and it is very mouth-watering. Hmm…I have to agree with him for this one coz the fish was fresh and the price is suitable.

Okay, this one is called Inari sandwich RM3. Inside this little sandwich, they put some mayo and salmon and that’s what makes this cute sandwich tasty.

Salmon sushi RM5

The salmon was half cooked but the texture is still a bit soft and flavorless. We purposely chose this coz we can’t stand the hanyir-ness of an uncooked salmon. I would suggest those with strong taste buds to put some wasabi or soy sauce for additional flavors.

Ura futomaki RM3

We don’t really like this one coz that green thingy taste a bit bitter and spoils the whole sushi.

Deep fried scallop RM3

This one was amazing coz the scallop was fully cooked and deep fried. I have to admit that I’m a deep-fried-food fan and that’s why my cholesterol level is high. :p

Besides ordering a la carte, customers can also choose hundreds of other sushi on the conveyor belts.

Excellent Dinner Buffet

During our 2nd anniversary last month, my bf took me to Sheraton Hotel (to have dinner okay :p) in Subang Jaya. We had a splendid dinner buffet. The dining place was created with a Mediterranean atmosphere with two dining options, which was the air-conditioned dining area and/or near the garden with an Italian setting, near the barbeque area.

As for our first course, we tried these:
Pasta salad and shrimp salad

As you can see, I tried this smoked salmon, crab sticks, pasta salad, shrimp salad and this yong taufu thingy I didn’t know what it was called. There were so many choices of food available and I forgot to mention, the theme for that night was Thai food.

The smoked salmon was ummm a bit tasteless and yucky, the crab stick taste just the same as the one you bought at ‘pasar malam’, pasta salad is just okay but the shrimp salad taste so marvelous, with a little bit of lemon juice taste. We kept on adding more and more of it onto our plate until we realize that we haven’t tried any of the main dishes yet.

Beef steak

My bf had half toast with chicken meat on top of it, chicken sausages salad, a slice of processed meat and popiah prawn.

Besides these (the one that we ate), they also served fresh oyster, shrimp, and all those seafood for appetizer. The oyster was so eewwwy and I couldn’t even swallow a single bit of it.

Chicken Cordon Bleu

Shrimp Fried Noodles

The main dish consist of variety types of western, local and Thai food such as beef steak, lamb chop, chic chop, fried rice, sweet and sour shrimp, fried noodles, pandan chicken, seafood tomyam, tomato soup, vegetable soup and so forth.

Thailand style fried rice

As for me, the fried rice was the most scrumptious among all. The amount of spices, salt and pepper was just right. Besides shrimp, they also include chicken and meat in this fried rice. It was the best nasi goreng ever.

Besides nasi goreng, I had this sweet and sour shrimp, fried noodles, pandan chicken, chicken chop as well as kurma daging.

Pandan Chicken

Sweet and sour prawn
At 7.30 pm onwards I couldn’t be able to snap any more pictures coz it was getting dark and the lighting was not good. This is what the pictures look like:

Tomato soup. Taste: just ok.

This cendol looks nice and colorful but the taste is a bit weird (I think) maybe because of too much santan.

This is beef noodles Thai style. From the look of it you can tell what the taste is like isn’t it. The taste was awfully flavorless.

We had ice cream, choc cakes, pudding caramel, fruits and all those traditional Malay kuih for dessert.

Overall, the dinner was perfect. The foods were awesome (most of it), the atmosphere was calm, the dining place was comfy and everything was brilliant. I forgot to mention about the price...Well, the mineral water was RM5 per bottle (which is absurd) and our total was almost RM200 for these (fuh! sambil wipe my peluh) and I think it's ummm not worth it...eventhough I wasn't the one paying..hehe

Pastalicious!

This is a review for pasta fan. I was on my way to meet my bro somewhere around this pyramid shaped mall and I accidentally found this restaurant. It is situated next to J.Co donnut (if I’m not mistaken) near the stairs in Sunway Pyramid new wing. All types of pasta are available in this particular restaurant including the weird ones. So we went in and try a few pastas. Some of it were awesome but some were awful. He’s what I managed to capture:

The price for each pasta differs based on the types of seafood used. The price range is between RM20+ to RM49.90 (the most expensive one).

To me, all of these dishes look and taste the same except for its color. Oh btw, they also have black pasta.

There are variety kinds of seafood used in the pasta including clams, squids, prawn, fish, lobster, crab, oyster and many more.

Besides pasta, they also serve pizza, steak and many kinds of European food. The atmosphere in this restaurant is very calm and peaceful and I think it is excellent for couples who adore this kind on eating environment. The maitre d' look very professional and trained with their white uniforms and they have good English command as well so there shouldn’t be a problem for customers when ordering.

As for dessert, they have ice cream, cakes, fruits and so forth.

I can only remember a few of it such as Oreo Banana Parfait RM8.80, Ichigo-milk Parfait RM8.80 and Maccha Azuki Parfait RM8.80. As for drink they have all sorts of fruit juice such as grape, apple, orange, lemon squash and a lot more for only RM3.80 per glass.

If you love your tummy more than your money, you better go and try these food coz it is unquestionably worth it. =)

Look what I've got..

This one will surely look fabulous to sushi lovers out there… Don't you think this one look inviting? Honestly I don’t like sushi that much but these (the one that I’ve chosen) taste awesomely good I tell ya… This is only my second time at this particular restaurant and my taste buds towards sushi have already improved compared to before. I like it this time. We sat there for 2 hours and here’s what I managed to capture:

Green tea, sweet ginger and wasabi.....

Fish curry, boiled eggs with rice...

I have no idea what this soup is called but it comes with this meal below...

Fried shrimp, fried sweet potato, mix vege, crab sticks, soy sauce and rice...
These are my favorite but unfortunately I have no idea what they are called. I ordered them just by pointing my finger at the picture, I mean, at the menu and to top that, I also don’t remember the price for each sushi… When we go eat next time I’ll try to remember the name of the meal as well as the price…

Sushi no.1

Sushi no.2

Sushi no.3

Sushi no.4

Sushi no.5

Sushi no.6

Overall, we had a blast. It wasn’t because of the sushis alone, but it was also because of the fine-looking maĆ®tre d'restaurant…(hehe don't you think so Jem?) :p

Ps: Thanx for your comment Tim, (it’s my first hehe)…

Happy lunch

Hmm these will surely make your tummy sing… About a year ago, I went out with my old friend from school and we did some food hunting. We didn’t know where to go and we didnn’t have much choice at that time so we decided to eat our lunch at this particular restaurant. We didn’t eat much coz we weren’t that hungry so we chose these:

Appetizer:
Tempura prawn
I ate most of it. The prawn was fresh and crispy. I can't get enough of it. It was superb!
Main dish:

This was one of our main dish. I don't really remember what it was called and I'm not bothered to find out huhu...

At that time this dish was still new. So we tried this as well… The taste was not bad but a bit muak coz the cheese is a little too much...

Dessert:

We had this for dessert. Nothing special about it coz I can’t taste or see any difference between this ice cream and any other ice cream I’ve tasted before. But overall we had a great meal...

More cakes and cup cakes

Hello! Here I have a few more of homemade cakes and cup cakes. I made those chocolate cup cakes during last raya and it was oh-so-good (hehe according to my taste bud la). The ingredients that I used were exactly the same as the one that I wrote on my last post.

Oh hehe I didn’t bake this one but my sister’s friend’s mum did :p…. The taste was just okay but the topping was so gorgeous. She does all sorts off designs on her cupcakes such as hello kitty, batman, cartoon, flowery patterns and etc..

My sister baked this one alone. If you ask me to rate this cake I’d give her 3/5 because of those colorful smarties hehe.. (I don’t really like cakes actually but I like baking it).

As for this one, I only like the look coz the taste was totally out…Seriously, it was just too oily and sweet… My sister and I baked it coz we were so bored to death..

And this one is of course our very first attempt of baking cake.. Just by looking at it you can tell what the taste is like.. The taste was so terrible because we put salt a bit too much so it was salty. Can you imagine eating a salty cake? Haha never mind, at least we tried…We got the ingredients for the icing from that famous cooking show called Nigella Feast. But it didn’t work. damn.
